The tour begins from Antigua Guatemala or Guatemala City, depending on where you´re staying. Pacaya Volcano is the most active volcano in Guatemala, it’s 2500 meters above sea level. Its vegetation is humid forest and rocks and has impressive views of the lagoon of Calderas and three other surrounding volcanoes: Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. Pacaya is very accessible for all ages, you don’t need to be an experienced hiker or climber to make it to the top. It´s a half day excursion so you can choose the morning or afternoon hours for this adventure!  If you prefer, you can also climb the volcano on horseback. You can hire horses on site when you arrive. This is an excellent adventure that everyone can enjoy in Guatemala.

Itinerary:

• 8:00am - Transportation from your hotel in Guatemala City or Antigua Guatemalato Volcán Pacaya
• 9:15am - Arrive to San Vicente Pacaya where the ascent begins
• 10:00am - Arrival to the looking point over Calderas lagoon as well as Agua, Fuego and Acatenango volcanoes.
• 11:00am - After a nice walk through volcanic sand paths and unique vegetation, you´ll arrive to the plateau where you can see the main crater of the volcano. We won´t visit the crater of the volcano for security reasons but you will see the lava (if active) and some steam baths. 15 minute resting spot.
• 12:00pm - Begin the descent .
• 1:00pm - Arrive to San Vicente Pacaya.
• 2:00pm - Transfer to your hotel in Guatemala City or Antigua Guatemala.
