During August, September and October Pacífico Adventures takes you to see the amazing humpback whales. They arrive to the northern coast of Peru from Antarctic waters for breeding and calving during the reproductive season.
This tour encompasses a broad navigation in which we have achieved 85% success rate sighting humpback whales in previous seasons.
This tour also serves as a research platform for our staff of marine biologists who are investigating several whale ecological aspects such as behavioral activities, distribution and population. The tourist can also be a part of our research by contributing any photos of the ventral side of the fluke of the whale to our photo identification catalog that may have been taken during the trip.
In addition, it is possible to see the fascinating marine life of the zone, such as the common dolphins (Delphinus capensis), sea lions (Otaria flavescens), sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), blue footed booby (Sula nebouxii) and the magnificent frigatebird (Fregata magnificens), while navigating in the convergence zone between the cold Humboldt ecosystem and the warm equatorial ecosystem.
